Bhopal: Plastic bottle lid got stuck in woman’s wind pipe while she was opening the bottle. The plastic object got stuck in her food pipe and after an 18-hour wait it was removed at BMHRC hospital, here on Thursday. The minimally invasive intervention was performed by gastroenterologist Dr Piyush Manoria. The patient was in pain and reported severe chest pain.  Minimally invasive surgery, the doctors use a variety of techniques to operate with less damage to the body than with open surgery. In general, minimally invasive surgery is associated with less pain, a shorter hospital stay and fewer complications.

Dr Piyush Manoria said, “The endoscopic intervention was without any anaesthesia. The plastic lid was removed from her food pipe. It was stuck in wind pipe and then it shifted to food pipe. Minimally invasive surgery has been established as an important way forward in surgery for reducing patient trauma and hospitalization with improved prognosis.” The patient later reported that after failing to open the bottle with her bare hands, she used her teeth to open the lid. However, before she could realise the lid was stuck in her throat and went into her food pipe. The accident took place to the Ratlam resident on Wednesday.
