Bhopal: Public health engineering department (PHED) has one again asked Bhopal Municipal Corporation BMC to shift their garbage collection vehicles from its land as it was causing inconvenience to its employees. PHED engineer-in-chief KK Songariya, on Wednesday shot off a letter to BMC commissioner seeking removal of garbage collection vehicles parked on its land.
Citing the unhygienic conditions prevailing in area owing to the parking of the garbage collection vehicles, PHED official asked the municipal commissioner to ensure that the vehicles were shifted elsewhere. The land has become a bone of contention between the two departments as they both claim ownership over it.
PHED claims that it owns the land near Mata Mandir square which the municipal body is using to park its vehicles. The department has been objecting to use of their land for parking purpose, however, the civic body has turned a blind to it. The issue has time and again led to face-off between the two departments but the civic body continued to park its vehicles on the ground.
PHED superintending engineer MK Dhurve confirmed that a letter from the office of principal engineer was sent to the BMC on Wednesday. Department has been asking the BMC to shift its vehicles for long but to no avail and now a letter demanding same has been sent to municipal commissioner. We want the issue to be sorted-out soon, he added.
