Bhopal: Five coaches of the Katni-Chaupan passenger train derailed between the Salhna and Piparia Kalan stations on Saturday night, leaving three persons including a guard injured. The reason for the derailment is not yet clear, however, the railway authorities have ordered a probe into the incident.
Train-traffic remained disrupted throughout the night on the route following the derailment that occurred around 10 pm, about 30 km away from the Katni railway station. It could only be restored by Sunday afternoon. Probe is being conducted regarding reasons behind derailment.
West Central Railway (WCR)’s chief Public Relation Officer Gunjan Gupta said that no casualty has been reported in the incident. All three injured were rushed to hospital, while two were discharged after preliminary treatment, one is still undergoing treatment and his condition is stable, he informed.
The PRO chief, however, said that the reason for the derailment is not yet clear and a probe has been instituted. WCR official said that rescue operation was launched immediately and a relief train was sent to the site. The train traffic on the route has been restored.
