BHOPAL: The new overbridge being developed to link Lalghati to airport road, has around 70 large and small colonies that are suffering due to the work. The business in the area is suffering due to the flyover that is under construction for over a year now. Not only this, few of the colonies near Lalghati has also seen a sharp fall in the price of property. The reason for it it the pillars of the bridge that are blocking the access of the residents of one colony to reach other and due to that they hesitate taking a long turn for going for shopping in other areas.
Anand Mohnani, a local trader said he has been living in the colony for over 22 years now. Earlier, it was easy for us to reach other colonies in front of ours. He said after work at the bridge started the residents have to travel extra distance for going anywhere around.
Dileep Singh, who runs a saw mill in the area says that the number of visitors on his shop have fallen by over fifty per cent. He says that earlier the residents would easily visit his shop from other areas but now that they have to take several turns for it, they avoid the route. Raman Rai, another resident of the area said the rates of property has worsened in last few years for several reasons and one of those is the new bridge. He said that the bridge was not proposed when he had taken land there. He further said the residents are not showing interest in property of the area.
The property rate have become half, in these few years.
Ankur Kanojiya, who works as a property dealer says that he has seen the trend of property rates going down began only after the work of bridge was initiated few months ago and the trend is still there in these areas.
He says that the residents purchased land in these colonies expecting surge in property rates but it has gone down drastically as the number of people who show interest in property have also fallen.
