BHOPAL: Over 50,000 commuters were hassled as the buses run by Bhopal city link limited did not set off for four hours. The operator Durgamma travels had halted the operation of buses over payment of their dues.
The buses start plying by 6 in the morning but on Friday for over four hours, the buses did not set out on the road. Regular office goers and students were hassled and kept waiting for the buses as they were unaware about issues of operator.
However, after assurance of BCLL director Kewal Mishra the bus operators brought the buses on road. Mishra himself took the buses to nearby fuel station for fuelling.
Mishra when contacted said that the financial health of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is not well and due to nonpayment of dues of over Rs 5 crore, the operators halted the buses. I ensured that they get diesel to run the buses so that residents do not suffer, he said.
