BHOPAL: Over three lakh employees that were given marching orders during 15 years of Shivraj regime have come together and are now demanding their jobs back from Kamal Nath government.
People that were given jobs under various categories when Digvijaya Singh was chief minister were gradually removed during BJP’s 15 year rule in the state, terming them Congresis, said coordinator of umbrella organisation Vasudev Sharma.
Main jobs given included electricity meter reading, health workers (swasthya janrakshak), computer operators, gausewaks, motivators (samvida preraks), physical trainers (vyayam shikshak), guest faculty and guest teachers.
Sharma said that there were estimated 52,000 swasthya janrakshak, 25,000 meter readers, 65,000 computer operators, 15,000 gausewaks, 35,000 samvida preraks, 5000 vyayam teachers, 5000 guest faculty working in colleges, 1 lakh guest lecturers in schools and about 2.5 lakh school teachers that have been regularised recently but deprived of several benefits.
“We have more than 3 lakh employees with us who have been engaged in various jobs. I tried to meet CM Kamal Nath to press my point but was able to meet his staff only,” said Sharma.
“It is ironical that Shivraj government removed the electricity meter readers and made way for contractor. Some of the readers are still working but under the contractors. In the changed system contractor is minting money while workers are being exploited,” said Hridesh Naik, coordinator of meter readers association.
Aggrieved to gather on Mar 8
Representatives from organisations including, electricity meter readers, teachers unions etc pressed the same point and said that they will gather at Shahjahani Park on March 8 to show their strength to the government and press their demand.
