MLA says curtailing police budget will hit modernisation

Opposition MLAs are not satisfied with the budget presented by the finance minister for 2017-18, in assembly for approval. Some of them alleged that the development works were being done only in the minister’s constituencies while others said the government was not serious towards development.

Congress MLA Bala Bachchan alleged for last 13 years not even a single major irrigation project had been completed.

“Report of WHO claims that the number of patients with physiological disorders is increasing in the state, but the government has no doctors to handle the situation,” he added.

Congress MLA KP Singh complained that the government had curtailed the budget of the police department and of the budget allocated, 92 per cent would be spent on salaries and remaining eight per cent for modernisation and others.

“By just eight per cent of budget, how will the police able to upgrade themselves to tackle the ISI espionage racket operating in the state?” he asked.

He also asked to slash the diesel rates in the state to uplift the condition of farmers.

Independent MLA, Dinesh Rai alleged, “Major part of the budget is allocated to the minister’s constituencies. Are they in fear that they will lose the seat? We are also members of assembly and we also want equal share of development funds.”

Congress MLA Hardeep Singh also alleged that in the budget, of 100 sanctioned roads, 48 were for Sehore district.
