Bhopal: Open School Board launches ‘smallest’ app, eyes Guinness Book

Bhopal: State Open School Board is eyeing entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for developing the world’s smallest (only 700 KB) mobile app, which was launched on Thursday. School education minister Kunwar Vijay Shah also launched the website of Maharishi Patanjali Sanskrit Institute on the day. Shah said the government would continue to make effective efforts for the development of Sanskrit language. He said work would also be continued in the direction of increasing the opportunities of employment through Sanskrit language.

He added a new building of Maharishi Patanjali Sanskrit Institute would be constructed at a cost of Rs 8.88 crore. In the project a hostel and auditorium for girls would come up.  He said the new website would help the public get information about the efforts and activities of the government in the field of Sanskrit in an accessible manner.

He said over 300 workshops had been organised in the state to prepare Sanskrit textbooks. Five Adarsh ??Sanskrit schools were functioning in Sironj, Datia, Ujjain, Burhanpur and Katni districts.  To develop the infrastructure of Sanskrit schools, Rs 50 lakh had been allocated. Digital evaluation system had been started to make exams transparent. To popularise Sanskrit, Sanskrit drama and dance dramas are being presented before the people, Shah added. The minister also released the annual educational calendar of the affiliated schools.

Director state open school education council, PR Tiwari said the app could be downloaded for free by typing mpsos by visiting the Play Store. This app could be downloaded in 15 seconds, as it was of the smallest in size and the board had filed an application for Guinness Book registration, Tiwari said. Earlier 2400 KB app was in the record list. Through the app, students can take the information of various institutions, admission rules, fees, examination results and others from mobile. Director public education commissioner Neeraj Dubey was also present in the programme.
