Bhopal: Five days have passed since a Waqar H Bhatti uploaded an objectionable video on the social media on July 9 but the team of Gwalior police is still clueless about the accused. ASP Satyendra Singh Tomar told Free Press, “We’re investigating the case and a team is being sent to Jammu for further probe.”

A team of Gwalior police had gone to Jammu on July 13th to arrest the accused, in vain. Tomar added, “The case has been registered on the complaint of a Gwalior based youth Nitin Shukla.” The complainant Nitin Shukla is believed to be a leader of a right wing Hindu outfit in Gwalior.

Tomar said that it has come to fore that Bhatti stayed at the Girnar Lodge in Gwalior for around three days. In a video which Bhatti has uploaded on the Facebook on July 8, which he had shot outside the Gwalior railway station, he is seen daring the right wing Hindu outfit RSS leaders.

“A local RSS leader in Gwalior has threatened to kill me if I come to Gwalior, so I want to tell him that I’m in your Gwalior and will be here for next three days. Please come and see me. I also want to tell the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal people who keep on sloganeering that if one has to live in India, that person has to chant Bharat Mata ki Jai and Vande Mataram. But I’m making clear to them that I won’t chant it,” Bhatti is seen stating in the video which is still available on his Facebook page.

“RSS and other right wing Hindu outfit leaders, including Bhupendar Yadav and Updesh Rana keep abusing and threatening to kill me. I have been dubbed by them as a terrorist and jihadi, I want to tell everyone that I’m a social activist who has the right to travel anywhere in India. I keep on travelling everywhere, spanning from Gwalior to Jhansi and Lucknow to elsewhere in India for my work as an activist,” he stated on his Facebook page.

According to Gwalior police sources, Bhatti’s wife is reportedly pursuing PhD. from a university in Gwalior, owing to which he keeps visiting Gwalior. ASP informed that they are trying to get more details about the couple from the records of the educational institution concerned.

In a related development after the police registered a case against him Bhatti posted another video on his facebook, questioning why he has been booked under Section 153A by the Gwalior police on the complaint of local RSS leader Nitin Shukla.

Elusive accused

A self-styled social activist from Jammu and Kashmir Waqar H Bhatti who has been crusading for the cause of Rohingya Muslims and for justice in Kathua gang rape-murder case has been booked by police for posting a video over the Facebook on July 11. Padav police station of Gwalior district have booked the accused under Section 153A of IPC, which pertains to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony.
