Bhopal: Minister for child development Archana Chitnis, addressing a three-day international workshop here on Wednesday, said the topic of nutrition awareness will be incorporated in the school as well as college curriculum. Chitnis said to ensure nutrition safety of every house and family is the objective of nutrition-sensitive agriculture and nutrition awareness.
Minister said improvement in condition of nutrition is the social and moral responsibility in the present times and its ignorance will affect the next generation. She said the conclusions of the workshop have been incorporated under areas of agriculture, nutrition management, policy aspect, social and practical innovation and nutrition literacy under Bhopal Charter.
Former chairperson of national woman commission, Lalita Kumar Manglam said women comprise of 67 per cent of the agriculture workers in the country. She emphasized on designing of agricultural tools and machinery for the convenience of women.
Indian Council for Agricultural Research deputy director general Dr AK Singh said the initiative taken by MP in the fields of nutrition sensitive agriculture and nutrition awareness is worth emulating for other states. He said more groups like Tejaswani must be developed to publicise nutrition plate, Tiranga plate and kitchen garden.Dr Mira Mishra said decline in nutrition is a global problem. She spoke on identification of deficiency of nutrition, continuous monitoring and capacity building of women groups. A ‘Bhopal Charter’ was announced in the workshop.
