Bhopal: In a bid to make government and the civic authorities to take immediate notice of their demands, residents of colonies situated on Hoshangabad road have come up with a unique idea of campaign against authorities. These people have pasted pamphlets on their houses vowing no tax, no vote until their demands were met.

Raising voice against the proposed Narmada line bulk connections and instead demanding individual water pipelines in their houses, these residents are now up in arms against government and municipal corporation. They have threatened not to pay property taxes and also participate in any elections if their demands were not met within three months. One can find their houses dotted with pamphlets mentioning their vow.

The residents have formed a group called NH-12 SABR under which they have put forth their demand of Narmada water connection in their colonies on individual connection basis. They are demanding individual connections in the houses which they believe is justified on the ground that they have to pay tax in proportion to its use.

SK Upreet, a resident of Asharam Nagar said that people have been living in the colony for last many years and have paid all the necessary taxes while purchasing the property. However, the residents feel the builder has betrayed them on several fronts and now since the Narmada in reaching their colony, the pipe line connection should be given on individual basis. Voicing against the proposed plan of bulk connection in colonies, he said that if connection is given on household basis, then at least one will pay only for what he or she is consuming, otherwise they will be charged for what others have consumed, he added.

Similar views were shared by Gurmeet Kaur, who questioned that why should they pay for the water if there is leakage in the water pipeline. The water goes waste if pipeline is damaged and in bulk connection we all will be held accountable for it and will have to bear the burden.

Guneet Singh, resident of Asharam Nagar says that there is a multi-storey building in the area and in case of bulk connection they may also add their bill in our account.
