Bhopal: Emphasising the need to have social security for workers in the unorganised sector, President Ramnath Kovind, said no country could progress without the welfare of poor, workers and backward people. “No society can progress without being mindful to the welfare of the working classes, the deprived and underprivileged sections. In the labour sector in India, the share of workers in the unorganised sector is over 80 per cent,” he said. Kovind said the welfare of Tendupatta collectors is the duty of the society and the state government.  Appreciating the Madhya Pradesh government, the President said the state was already working in this direction.

He stressed on conserving the forests for the coming generations.  Nobody but tribals and forests dwellers could understand forest better as they are its protector and guardian and they mutually depend and protect each other. Stating that there is great need for social security for these, the President said that Central government is making social security code for them to ensure that they do not have to face any problem at the time of medical emergency or during old age.

Governor Anandiben Patel in her address said the state government has launched several schemes for the welfare of poor and their benefits are reaching to the needy. She congratulated Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his cabinet for launching schemes for inclusive growth people in all sectors. She urged the people to send their children to study as it is the only Mantra to get freedom from poverty.

Chouhan said all sections including farmers and workers were given priority. Following the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the state government is giving priority to the welfare of people living at the grassroots.  The President, after his two-day state- visit, left for Delhi in the evening.
