Bhopal: The new academic session in Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS) began with an orientation programme held for the parents as well as students on Monday. The programme commenced with a welcome song by BSSS Rhythm students. Principal Dr Fr John PJ, in his speech, congratulated the newly admitted students on being a part of an illustrious institution and pointed out that this programme was essentially meant to familiarise the students with the working of the College and its various committees.
In view of this, Dr JK Chawla laid emphasis on the distinctive identity of BSSS and claimed that its academic culture involving innovative teaching methods and regularity have emerged as its USP. Sr Maurice, incharge, certificate courses, gave an overview of approximately 50 certificate courses offered by the college which are meant to enhance the knowledge of the students. Prof TM Thomas briefed the students on the working of examination cell and the pattern of evaluation followed by the institution. Issues of discipline such as code of conduct, the anti-ragging cell, the PTA, etc were discussed at length by Prof Sunita Anand. And Shubhra Bhatia gave a detailed presentation on the various career and placement opportunities which students can avail at BSSS.
The various facilities and infrastructure of BSSS was highlighted by Dr Vinay Mishra and details of the sports and adventure tours organised by the College were given by Vishal Singh Sengar. The programme ended with a vote of thanks given by the Vice Principal Dr Sr Lissy Jose which was followed by a question and answer session where the doubts and queries of the parents and newly inducted students were addressed by the principal as well as the various faculty heads.
