Dhar: For the last few days, Dhar district has been in the news for all the good reasons. First, seven students from the district successfully cracked JEE Advanced – 2017 and qualified for counseling round. Now 18 students from government schools, including 16 girls aspiring to become doctors has been making news after they cleared the coveted National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

According to information, as many as 12 students belong to schedule tribe, two from schedule caste and four from other backward caste. Praising their hard work, tribal development department assistant commissioner Brajesh Pandey said, “Students who study in our class come from extremely poor backgrounds. Most girls have grown up in some of the most backward tribal belts of the district with their parents involved in farming. Despite this, our girls have beaten all odds and they are now aiming to secure a seatin top medical colleges in the country.”

Pandey said majority students who had qualified for the counselling round came from extremely poor background and their parents didn’t have enough money to send their wards to Indore or other big cities for coaching. In that condition, special coaching facilities arranged by the department was the only way to give wings to their dreams, he added. On Sunday, district collector Shriman Shukla invited all the selected students at his office and felicitated them. Model school principal Suchita Shinde was also present on the occasion.
