Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chapter of Association of Physicians of India will observe “World Hypertension Day on Friday. Nearly 33 per cent of state capital population is Blood Pressure (BP) patients while in rural area, it is 22 per cent. The theme for World Hypertension Day is Know Your Numbers with a goal of increasing high blood pressure (BP) awareness in all populations around the world.
Dr PC Manoria, former Chairman Hypertension Council Asian Pacific Society of Hypertension, said, “ There is need to raise the awareness about hyper tension in the society as 1 billion Blood Pressure patients are in the world and it will be 1.5 billion patients by 2025. Nearly 10 million people die due to BP while half of it dies due to heart attack. So Hypertension is silent killer.”
“High Blood Pressure affects brain, heart and kidney. It leads paralysis and heart attack. People should go regular check up of blood pressure,” Dr Manoria added. Dr Pankaj Manoria said, “People should know their heart age by cardiologist. It is calculated by risk factors like smoking, cholesterol, BP, sugar and body weight. If heart age is more than annual age, there is chances of heart attack and paralysis.”
