BHOPAL: To modernise the police system is needed to strengthen the policing system. Only modern police can create modern India.
This was stated by retired DG of Uttar Pradesh, Assam and BSF, Prakash Singh in the lecture organised under the KR Rustamji centenary year celebrations.
He also added that people of the nation are having lots of hopes from the prime minister. He is promoting the concept of ‘smart police’.
In last one decade many efforts have been made for police reforms. The Supreme Court has issued many instructions and 17 states of the nation have followed them.
The first requirement of the force is the need is the manpower, the state government shall established good infrastructure, communication, transportation, housing, working manual and training for better policing.
He appreciated the state’s Dial-100 programme, “in foreign countries for emergency call one number is present and in state MP, Dial-100 is present”.
He asked that a control room at national level is also required, the CCTNS has to be strengthened, it will help to control crime and will track the criminal.
Terrorism, naxalism and other anti national crime should be declared as federal crime and security agencies like NIA should investigate the cases. The DGP Rishi Shukla has welcomed the former officer IG Manish Shankar Sharma has introduced the subject.
