BHOPAL: Many construction projects which were launched by the ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government will now be inaugurated by CM Kamal Nath in the state capital in the months to come. On the very day Kamal Nath took charge as the CM of MP, he inaugurated Vallabh Bhavan annexes, constructed at a cost of Rs 650 crore.

Various departments were to be shifted in annexes after inauguration and formal puja. Here is a background (in boxes) on the ongoing projects in the state capital like bridges, flyovers, Railway Over Bridges- which were launched by BJP government but will be accomplished and dedicated to public by Congress dispensation.

Rani Kamlapati flyover Rani Kamlapati flyover connects Kilol Park to Ginnori Road over Lower Lake. It is under construction. Dubbed as arch bridge, the cost is now pegged at Rs 50 crore. The projected cost of the flyover was Rs 33 crore when the foundation stone was laid in February in 2016. Post-construction, traffic management is going to be a major issue for Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). A sharp turn from near Shyamla Hills gas station to connect Kilol Park and over the arch bridge is a first hurdle.

Another issue is management of traffic along Ginnori, where 20 feet wide road is now barely a single lane street, much of which is on account of illegal encroachment. As per the BMC, much of the main flyover is being fabricated in Gujarat. All 97 girders have been placed over the new construction. Cutting and bending work has been initiated in factory at

Ahmedabad. All cables neededhave arrived ahead of schedule from China.
Subhash Nagar ROB Subhash Nagar ROB being built by the public works department (PWD) over Railway lines at Subhash Nagar. As per PWD, the construction of the bridge has been done in such a way that the electricity or other wires can be laid underground below the bridge. There will be a system for rainwater drainage at Ashoka Gardens and MP Nagar side. The ROB has a 1.5-meter wide footpath.

The ROB will directly benefit seven lakh residents of the surrounding areas. Problem of traffic jam at Subhash Nagar, Rachna Nagar underbridge and Ashoka Gardens will be resolved. On the other hand, commuters passing through Bhopal Station, Nishatpura, Govindpura, Piplani, Jinsi, MP Nagar, Rachna Nagar and Security Road will get the relief.
