Bhopal:  The Kamal Nath government has adjusted the excess expenditure of Rs 83 crore that took place during the term of ex-Chief Minister Babulal Gaur in 2004-05. During Gaur’s term as CM several departments had made excess expenditure over the fund allotted in the budget.

The BJP continued for 13 years in the government in the state but it did not adjust the excess expenditure. The surplus expenditure was adjusted recently after it was approved by the Governor and passed by the state assembly.

The excess expenditure had come to the fore during audit of comptroller and audit general (CAG)- when the figures of expenditure of departments of finance, public health and family welfare, public works, Panchayat and rural development, backward category development, Narmada Valley development, revenue, jail, culture, urban administration and development and water resources, did not tally.
