Bhopal: Congress MLA maintained that PM Narendra Modi’s successful narrative of nationalism laced with Hindutva swayed the voters and led to Congress drubbing in the LS polls. The observation was mad by legislators at Congress Legislature Committee meeting chaired by party state unit president on Sunday. Besides the Congress MLAs, the meeting was attended by former chief minister Digvijaya Singh, newly elected member of parliament Nakul Nath. The two BSP MLAs and Smajwadi Party MLA were also present in the meeting. Nath said that Congress party successfully raised the issues regarding public welfare and also listed the failures of the Modi government, but the public gave mandate to BJP. “In an election no one is a permanent winner and loser, but the need to take lesson from defeat is very important”.
The CM asked the Congress leaders to beware of the propaganda machinery. Nath discussed with MLAs the reasons for the Congress poll rout in the state. The legislators were also asked to remain alert of the fake news making rounds on social media. Strategy to strengthen the party to the core level was also discussed at the meeting. The MLAs were told to give a patient hearing to the issues of the people in their respective constituency and also ensure their earliest redressal. They have been asked to inform the district collector about the people’s woes and also keep ministers appraised. Nath asked the minister to work on the promises made in the Vachan Patra, in 76 days the government had fulfilled the 83 promises, but still many are pending.
