BHOPAL: A pickpocket, who was caught red-handed by the police while he was trying to take out a wallet of a passenger in BRTS low floor bus in Mangalwara area on Tuesday, tried to injure self. The police registered a case of attempt to suicide. Meanwhile, the traffic police continued their drive against pick-pockets in public transport.
ASP (traffic) Sameer Yadav said arrested accused was identified as Kallu alias Jehangir, 22, son of Saurabh Nawab who resides near Radha dhaba below Bharat Talkies over bridge. He was a habitual offender and several similar cases were registered against him with Mangalwara police.
The accused was caught at Alpana Tiraha on Tuesday at around 11am by the police in a low-floor bus. He tried to inflict injury to himself in order to avert his arrest. A case under 25 of Arms Act and Section 309 (attempt to commit suicide) was registered against him at Mangalwara police station.
