Bhopal: National Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (NABARD) MP Regional Office CGM SK Bansal appraised the role of NABARD in the areas of rural infrastructure, PACS strengthening; self-help group digitization in a meeting with Chief Minister Kamal Nath on January 30, 2018 and identified potential areas of cooperation between NABARD and the State government.
Bansal said that NABARD can cooperate with the MP government in strengthening the rural infrastructure in the state through financing under RIDF, LTIF, MIF, DIDF, FAIDF and WIF. NABARD can collaborate with state govt agencies for expansion of Farmers’ Producer Organisation and agricultural marketing infrastructure (Mandis/UpMandis) in the state.
In this context, he said that the Government of India has allocated a budget of Rs 2000 Crore for strengthening of the Mandis and the rural haats for 2018-19. Since MP is already a leading state in the production of food grains, there are limitless possibilities of work in this area.
They also discussed on DIDF and FAIDF funds for Dairy, Fisheries. In this regard, help of NABARD subsidiary for consultancy (NABCONS) can also be taken. Bansal, invited the Chief Minister to participate in state credit seminar likely to be held in the second week of February, in which State Credit Plan of Rs 1.73 L crore for 2019-20 will be released.
Detailed discussion will be held during the seminar on the prospects of financing by banks under priority sector in the state. In MP, besides agriculture loan there is huge possibilities of lending for animal husbandry, horticulture, food processing, warehousing and cold storage. Principal secretary finance Anurag Jain, secretary CMO, Chandrasekhar, D S Chauhan, M Khess, Gautam Kumar Singh and others were present on the occasion.
