BHOPAL: Koh-e-Fiza police detained mother Farida Bano (40) and her tenant Sushil (25) oon Tuesday in connection with the mysterious suicide of 6-year-old Atia. The girl was found hanging on March 15 on the upper floor of her house. From the beginning, mystery shrouded her death.
As per sources, Farida Bano had affairs with Sushil. Deceased Atia, who was watching TV with her sisters on the ground floor, went upstairs, and saw her mother in a compromising position with Sushil. Following this, they killed Atia lest she should disclose their affair in public. However, the police have not confirmed these developments stating that they were only interrogated.
However, mother Farida had told that she was going to market when all the sisters were watching TV on the ground floor. But she went to meet Sushil who lived in the same building. Atia might have seen both in compromising condition so they killed and hanged her just to divert the police attention from murder to suicide. This was reason, mother had protested when the police were adamant for postmortem.
The tenant, as per sources, used to sexually assault the deceased, so there was no sign of any bleeding from private part of the deceased.
SHO Koh-e-Fiza Anil Vajpayee said, “We have not detained anyone in this matter so far. FSL report is still open— it may be or it may not be — as far sexual assault is concerned. However, FSL report reveals the possibility that a six-year-old girl can hang herself from 5.8-ft height.”
‘Possible that victim hanged self’
Former director of Gandhi Medical College’s medico-legal department Dr Satpathi and Forensic Science Laboratory Report (FSL) both have views that a six-year-old can hang herself from height of 5.8-ft.
However, FSL report is not sure about sexual assault stating – “it may be or it may not be” while Satpathi said, “There is no stain of bleeding from private part and scuffle needed to prove sexual assault and murder.” Dr Satpathi had gone on Tuesday to observe the site where Atia was found hanging just a couple of days ago.
The police are awaiting the detailed postmortem (PM) report, expected by Wednesday, to ensure whether the girl was sexually assaulted and murdered or it was a suicide.
Dr Satpathi, while talking to Free Press, said, “Child behaviour depends on the atmosphere they are brought up. A 10-year-old boy of normal family looks innocent and cannot understand complexity but 5-year-old boys who spend lives on railway platforms, can be seen smoking bidi and inhaling thinner. We can not compare them with age. Similarly, once, a potter’s son of 7 years age had committed suicide. So everything is possible.”
Dr Satpathi said, “Condition shows ‘intentional hanging’ as there is no sign of outsider involvement. Whatever happened, it happened within family. Elder sister also had attempted suicide. On the day of the incident, deceased had dispute with elder (middle) sister who had slapped her and Atia had used abusive language. IQ of all the sisters is very high, so parents cannot control such children.”
