Alot: The town is in need of a spacious bus stand, say residents as the entry of heavy vehicles and unorganised traffic management are taking a toll on people.
Locals said that they were demanding a mini bus stand at Dusshera Maidan from long and even former council cleared the proposal, but public representatives and administration officials laid back attitude delayed the project and as a result of that people are facing a lot of problems.
People claimed that encroachments by shop owners in busy market areas and lack of proper parking has not only transformed the wide roads into narrow lanes, but it’s also problematic for residents. Town people said whenever the media raises the issue; responsible officials and employees carry out a drive, but only for a few days.
Few busy intersections including Sanjay Chowk, Nageshwar Road, Rajendra Chowk and others are some of the places where people have to face traffic congestion during peak hours courtesy shop owners as most of them put their belongings on the road. Adding to that is unorganised traffic management.
Recently, many people tabled their suggestion on how the administration can smoothen the traffic flow. People claimed that lack of planning has lead to unorganised development as a result of which, pressure has increased on only one road between Vitthal temple and station road. Municipal council should design master plan and implement it. Similarly, council should shift the vegetable market from the middle of the town to some other place as well as ban the entry of heavy vehicles inside the town.
Similarly, if administration constructs a bus stand at Dusshera Maidan it will help to decrease traffic density in the busy market place. It’s now up to the administration and public representatives to take relevant action in the matter and make Alot free of traffic jams.
