BHOPAL: Feeling agitated by the proposed demonstration of the Congress on February 22, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation removed the banner and hoardings of party, in the early morning on Sunday while the district administration cancelled he permission of the demonstration later in the afternoon.
ADM Ratnakar Jha said the permission has been cancelled, because Tin Shed is not big enough for holding demonstration and importantly they have taken the permission to gather 2,000 to 2,500 activists, but their gathering is in huge number.
State Congress president Arun Yadav claimed that the party will organise demonstration on scheduled date and scheduled place. “State government is trying to kill the democratic rights of the opposition party”. He added.
The Congress has planned stage a demonstration at Tin Shed and lay siege of Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday. Many senior national leaders including Kamalnath, Jyotiraditya Scindia,Digvijay Singh, Vivek Tankha and others are likely to participate in the demonstration. Some of them have started arriving in Bhopal to attend the demonstration.
The employees of the BMC removed the hoardings about the agitation. Later the Congress members staged a protest and sat on dharna.
The district administration cancelled permission for the demonstration late in the afternoon citing the reason that the ‘space at the proposed venue of Tin Shed is small to stage demonstration’.
