He added that the first open jail of the state is Hosangabad jail later four more jails were opened in Jabalpur, Satna, Sagar and Indore.
The Bhopal central jail jailer Priyadarshan Shrivastava informed that the jail comprises eight cottages and in these cottages nine prisoners will be kept. As in one cottage father, son and family will reside.
Open jails in MP
The open jail concept is just like the Bollywood movie Do Aankhe Barah Haat, in which the dreaded criminals are kept before releasing them from the prison. The first two jails in the state were established in the 1980’s in which the dacoits were kept. These jails where established in Mungawali of Ashoknagar district and in Laxminagar of Panna district. Later the jails were close following the failure to live up to their potential. Latter in 2010 the idea was mooted again and a jail was established in Hosangabad. Following success in Hosangabad five more jails have been opened in the state including the latest one in Bhopal.
