Bhopal: MPHRC summons Katju Hospital staff over pregnant woman’s death

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has summoned hospital superintendent of Katju Hospital, doctors and paramedical staff in connection with death of a pregnant woman in the hospital.

A pregnant woman named Suman died in the hospital on December 11, 2016. The Commission has summoned Dr Abha Shukla, Dr Neelam Dhavan, Dr Usha Grower, staff nurse Hemlata Thakur and contractual staff nurse Deepmala by serving notice to them. The Commission has asked them to appear before it on February 28 and submit their written reply.

The Commission, after the report of chief medical and health officer and probe team, found that the concerned doctors observed carelessness in the incident of death of the pregnant woman and they were also responsible for the incident. The commission has also sought report from principal secretary, public health and family welfare through commissioner, health.
