Bhopal: MP Women lift Gurunanak Dev Gold Cup

BHOPAL: MP Women Hockey team thrashed Khalsa Hockey Academy by 4-2 and won the title of All India Gurunanak Dev Gold Women Hockey Tournament on Sunday in Amritsar. The result of final match was a tie of 1-1 and so the decision of the match was decided by shoot out in which MP team won the match by 4-2.

Ramanpreet Kaur of Khalsa Hockey Academy scored a goal in the 19th minute. Jyoti Pal of MP State Academy scored a goal in the 29th minute and took the team out of pressure. In shoot out the players of MP State Academy, Ishika Chaudhary, Upasana Singh and Nilanjali scored a goal each and the team won the match by 4-2. Chief coach, MP Hockey Academy, Paramjeet Singh Barar was given the award of Best Coach.

Sports and youth welfare minister, Jitu Patwari expressed congratulated the team for bring laurels to the state. Girls have made the whole state proud by winning the All India Gurunanak Dev Gold Cup, said the minister. Director, sports and youth welfare, SL Thoasen also congratulated the team for this great achievement.
