Bhopal: MP High Court (HC), on Thursday, cancelled 150 seats allotments made by department of medical education in the various private medical colleges of MP recently in July 2018. In its detailed judgment passed in the petition preferred by the LN Medical College, Bhopal the HC directed the state government for carrying out the entire exercise of “ Fresh allotment and counseling” within 2 days of its order amongst the 150 students by following reservation roster as provided under the MBBS Admission Rules, 2018. The court found large scale illegalities in the allotment of 150 students by the DME to private colleges.
The illegalities included the swing of majority of general category students amongst the 150 students being allotted to 3 private medical colleges of State- Aurobindo Medical College, RD Gardi Medical College and Chirayu Medical College, with the 90 per cent reserved category students being allotted to the remaining colleges: LN Medical College Bhopal and Index Medical College Indore. As a result of this foul play by the authorities concerned the aggrieved colleges were left only with reserved category students to be taught.
Petitioner LN Medical College was represented by Advocate Siddharth Radhelal Gupta. Notably, Supreme Court in 2017 -18 permitted the RKDF Medical College to admit provisionally the students when it was having disputes with the state government and the MCI for its permission. However later the medical college was found to be deficient in norms, so the Supreme Court cancelled these admissions and directed for shifting of the 150 lot to any other recognized private medical college of MP.
