Bhopal: Where our answer sheets would be evaluated and who and how many teachers would do it? What are Narendra Modi’s and Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s scholarship schemes for students? How many marks are required for getting a laptop? These are some of the questions being asked by the students who just appeared in Class 10 and 12 exams of MP Board on the board’s helpline numbers. The helpline is basically meant to counsel depressed students so as to prevent suicides. Noticeably, the helpline became functional from February 1 and now it is receiving 450 queries regarding exam results in a day.
Some other questions regarding exams go like these. When will result come out? We left questions of 15 marks in a paper, would we be able to pass? How many subjects’ marks will be added? If the marks of a question are 5 then how many marks can we get? Is there any negative marking? Will ‘Ruk Jana Nahi’ scheme work this year too?
They are also asking questions regarding career like ways to prepare for competitive exams, subjects and colleges to be chosen to get job easily etc.
Speaking to Free Press, counsellor Sindhu Dholpure said, “Nowadays, we are getting a large number of calls not only from students but their parents too regarding results. Some students from local areas like Bhopal, Sehore and Hoshangabad and others even visit our office along with their parents during office hours from 8am to 8pm. It is open for all and free of cost.
We are also getting calls from students of Class 9 and 11 for knowing their re-exam schedule. Sometimes we also get questions regarding making duplicate mark sheets, mark sheet amendment etc. Besides MP Board, we are also getting questions of students and parents of other boards,” Dholpure added.
She further said, “The helpline would remain open till June 15. Last year, it was open till September due to ‘Ruk Jana Nahi’ scheme, which was introduced by the state government last year.”
Interestingly, the helpline is not only getting calls from different districts of MP but from other Hindi-speaking states too. Since 2007, the board runs the helpline for students on toll free number 18002330175 from February to June.
