Bhopal: MP athletes medal-winning spree continues

Bhopal: The excellent performance of athletes of Madhya Pradesh is continuing in Khelo India Youth Games. On Saturday, Manisha Keer of MP Shooting Academy broke her own record of 116/125 in trap women solo event and scored 117/125 to make a new national record and won a gold medal in the same event.

Ritesh Ohre completed the 3,000 meter run in 8.56 minutes and won a gold medal for the state. Ikram Ali Khan of MP State Athletics Academy won a silver medal in discus throw event. Swimmer of Indore, Kanya Nayar won a silver medal in U17 400 meter solo medley race. In weightlifting competition, Kunwar Vishwajeet Singh won a bronze medal in U21 boys’ category.

Athletes of MP have won 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. Bahadur Patel won a silver medal in 5,000 meter run and Kaustubh Jaiswal won a silver medal in high jump event. Bushra Gauri Khan won a bronze medal in 3000 meter run, Sunil Davar won a bronze medal in 1500 meter run, Akash Dubey grabbed one bronze medal in 400 meter run and Arvind Sharma won a bronze medal in discus throw event.

Medal winners to be feted On the occasion of National Youth Day, MP Sports and Youth Welfare Minister, Jeetu Patwari has announced to honor all the medal winners of Khelo India Youth Games. Prize money will also be given to them. Rs 51,000 to the gold medalists, Rs 31,000 to silver medalists and Rs 21,000 to bronze medalists will be given. Congratulating the medal winners, Patwari said it is the responsibility of government to encourage these young players.
