Bhopal: The new administrative building of Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya is awaiting inauguration by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for past five months. The ‘A’ grade college is struggling to provide space for classes, laboratories to more than 3000 students in old buildings. The college sent many letters to chief minister to inaugurate the administrative building but CM Chouhan failed to find time for inauguration. The new building was constructed at the cost of Rs 2 crore sanctioned by CM.
Many departments like military science, computer science, girls’ common room don’t have adequate space for students. There is only toilet for 1800 girl students. Girls’ common room, sports room, departmental libraries also require more space.
Student union president Harshita Giri said that college administration failed to set up infrastructure as per demands. “Newly constructed building was completed six months ago but college administration wants inauguration by chief minister,” he told Free Press.
College principal Neeraj Agnihotri said that the chief minister is expected to inaugurate new building in March. “We are in immediate need of shifting administrative building to provide space for classes, laboratories to departments. CM sanctioned Rs 2 crore for building, so we want him to inaugurate the building,” he said. Public works department has not handed over the building to college. Nor has it issued no objection certificate.
