MORENA: Traders kept their establishments closed on Wednesday in protest against the murder of a businessman on Tuesday. Late on Tuesday night, Kirana trader Ramnivas Mangal robbed of Rs 20,000 in cash at gunpoint on his way home. The miscreants also fired at him killing him on the spot. Bobby Mangal, who was accompanying him, sustained serious injuries and is battling for life at a Gwalior hospital.
Irked by the crime, traders did not open their establishments on Wednesday. They gheraoed district collector Vinod Sharma’s bungalow and raised slogans against deteriorating law and order situation in the district. Later, the collector and SP Vineet Khanna met members of the bereaved family and assured them that culprits would be caught soon. As a precautionary measure heavy police force was deployed in the city. Seriousness of the situation can be gauged by the fact that DIG Anil Sharma is camping in the town since Tuesday night. A delegation of traders’ organisations will soon meet the IG and the collector on the issue. The SP has summoned TIs who have a good network from all over the district to launch a manhunt for the criminals.
