Samanya Pichda Alpskhyank Kalyan Samaj Party was in turmoil on Monday after founder Lalit Shastri claimed that he owned the organisation, while state president Dr KL Sahu claimed that Shashtri had resigned from the party.
Different voices have emerged in the month-old party. While one group has staked ownership of the organisation, another group has termed the turn of events as “an act to suppress the party noble cause’.
Samanya Pichda Alpskhyank Karamchari Sangh was rechristened as Samanya Pichda Alpskhyank Kalyan Samaj Party to contest the assembly polls. The organisation had forced state government on the back foot over SC/ST Atrocity Act issue.
Samanya Pichda Alpskhyank Karamchari Sangh founder Lalit Shastri appointed Amit Khampria as new working president and informed the media about it in Jabalpur. Talking to Free Press over phone, Sashtri said that the organisation was established in November 2016 and is registered in his name.
He alleged “members have taken a wrong direction. I cannot tolerate it and hence decided to appoint new working president.” He further said, “I am going to write to the Election Commission of India to put recognition of the organisation on hold as it is not a political party.”
Meanwhile, state president Dr KL Sahu termed Shastri’s claims as fake and fabricated. “Shastri was the founder of the organisation. However, he resigned from the party and is no more a member,” he added. Dr Sahu alleged “Shastri is now a member of another party and is trying to create confusion to fulfill his political ambitions.” He said “The SPAKS is united and will achieve the set goal”.
