Bhopal: Spell of showers after a gap of around 12 days in MP and its capital, indicates that Monsoon is getting active again. In past 24 hours, with 131 milimetre- Narsinghpur district recorded the highest rainfall in MP whereas Jabalpur received 91 milimetre rains.
Overcast conditions in the state capital since morning led to showers by afternoon. Meterological department forecasts a possibility of rains for in the coming days across MP. Rains may occur in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol and Hoshangabad divisions on Thursday.
Till Wednesday evening, state capital recorded 18 mm of rains. Hoshangabad registered 24 mm, Pachmarhi 15mm, Guna 23mm, Ratlam 16mm, Sagar 27mm, Umaria 25 mm while Raisen recorded 27 mm rains. The rains brought relief to people especially farmers who were at unease with a break in rains at the end of July in MP.
According to Meterological department, a high pressure area has developed over Chattisgarh and Eastern MP. A circle of cyclonic wind has also developed over South-East Rajasthan and its nearby areas. Creation of low pressure area, in Bay of Bengal from August 13 may lead to heavy rains.
Water level of Upper Lake
Current water level of the Upper Lake, known to be life line of state capital, is 1658 feet while its maximum level is 1666.6. It still requires 8 feet of water for the lake to be filled.
