Bhopal: At a press conference organised here on Friday, AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik described Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘villain’. After giving a presentation on the three years of Modi rule, Wasnik said the kind of language Modi was using was not the language of a hero. Only a villain can speak like that. Wasnik said that the Union government has no business in celebrating the three years of unfulfilled promises. He said that the UPA government presented its report card after every year. But this government was only mounting grand celebrations.
He said that the Modi government had utterly failed in combating Naxalism and terrorism. There have been more than 1300 violations at the line of actual control and 539 of our army jawans have been martyred. The government has come a cropper on the foreign policy front. Wasnik said that farmer suicides have grown. The government’s decision to scrap import duties has ruined the farmers. Modi maintains a stoic silence on the provocative and objectionable statements of his ministers. His silence, Wasnik said, was ‘strategic’.
Wasnik said that the Centre should come out with a White Paper on the state of the Indian economy. He said that elections are not due in the near future and hence he would not like to comment on the outcome of the surveys on the performance of the Modi government. He said that the election results would start reflecting the dismal performance of Modi. He said that the government had said that it had taken the decision to demonetise high-value currency notes to flush out black money from the system and curb funding of terror outfits. However, nothing has changed. There are scams galore in all BJP-ruled states but Modi is keeping mum.
