BHOPAL: A mock drill was conducted to check the preparedness of security forces to nullify plane hijack at Raja Bhoj airport on Wednesday. The mock drill was carried out on Wednesday morning at state hanger.
Airport director Akashdeep Mathur said that on Wednesday at around 10 am, the air traffic control (ATC) raised an alarm of hijacking after which the CISF jawans and police personnel rushed to the airport. They were told that an aircraft has been hijacked at the state hanger.
Acting swiftly, security forces surrounded the plane and within a few minutes they took control over the situation. The drill concluded satisfactorily and the airport premises remain unaffected during the period. “The drill’s main purpose was to practice the protocol of the airport committee which come to life during such situation within timeframe and take the necessary actions like real time scenario,” he said.
