BHOPAL: The Congress party deny tickets to kin of ministers and MLAs if the formula expressed by Rahul Gandhi in meeting of Congress state presidents in New Delhi on Saturday, prevails over selection of candidate for 2019 general elections. According to political experts Congress is facing a leader crunch for the LS elections.
\In 2014 general elections the Congress could win only two seats Chhindawara and Guna out of 29 Lok Sabha seats in MP. On the rest of the 27 seats the BJP candidates had won the elections. Enthused with the change of guard in the state Rahul has asked party workers to ensure party’s victory on 29 seats in the state in the LS elections.
The 29 LS in-charges are taking meeting in their constituencies respectively and from every constituency a panel of two to three names are likely to be proposed. According to sources Congress MLAs and ministers are desirous of getting their kin to contest the LS election. Name of chief minister Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath is being raised by the party members time to time from Chhindawara.
Recently wife of MP Jyotiraditya Scindia- Priyadarshini Raje Scindia is doing rounds as the candidate from Gwalior seat. From the Dewas seat son of PWD minister Sajjan Singh Verma- Pawan Verma is emerging as a candidate from the seat. In the assembly elections he had played a vital role in his father’s victory. Though, many eligible candidates are present from this seat.
Health minister Tulsi Silawant’s son Nitish Silawat is said to be eyeing two seats: Indore, Ujjain. Sources claim that Nitish is active in the Ujjain seat. From the Ujjain seat the party may not propose more names, sources added. From Khajuraho seat ex- MLA Shankar Pratap Singh Bundela’s son- Siddharth Pratap is planning to contest the election. The seat has returned a BJP candidate since 2004, ex-MP Satyavrat Chaturvedi had won this seat for the Congress for the last time in 1999.
