Bhopal: Intense cold wave engulfed State as the mercury took a nosedive across many regions. Gwalior recorded highest drop of 7.6 degree Celsius, while in Umaria temperature recorded a dip of 5 degree Celsius, closely followed by Betul where took a 4 degree Celsius plunge on Monday night.

Maximum drop in temperature was registered in Gwalior and Shahdol divisions. Minimum temperature in Gwalior plummeted to 2.4 degree Celsius on Monday night, while had recoded 10 degree Celsius a night before. Similarly, Umaria recorded drop of 5 degree Celsius registering minimum temperature of 4.1 degree Celsius on Monday night.

Similarly, temperature in state capital also posted 2.5 degree Celsius plunge. At 2.1 degree Celsius, Datia was the coldest in the state followed by Gwalior, Nowgaon and Khajuraho. Rewa, Tikamgarh, Pachmarhi and Mandla were among the district where teprature was less than 5 degree Celsius. Biting cold continued to intensify in the state for consecutive second day particularly in northern and eastern regions.

Icy wind blew at speed of 12 kilometer per hour. Cold wave is likely to prevail at Chhattarpur, Panna, Rewa, Satna, Singrauli, Umaria, Balaghat, Gwalior, and Datia in next 24 hours. Bhopal recorded minimum temperature of 7.4 degree Celsius, which was 3.5 notches below normal, while maximum temperature stood at 23.2 degree Celsius. Minimum temperature settled at 9.6 degree Celsius in Indore, while the maximum was 24.4 degree Celsius which was two degree Celsius below normal. Meteorological department has attributed to the changes to western disturbances.
