BHOPAL: The cold wave like condition is likely to prevail at many parts in the state in the next 24 hours as various places recorded the minimum temperature of nine degree Celsius.
In addition to Shahdol division, Mandla, Balaghat, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Damoh districts are likely to be in grip of cold wave like condition.
The temperature of nine degree Celsius, which is the lowest temperature in the state, has been recorded at many places. Betul recorded the minimum temperature of 8.8°C, Rewa recorded 9°C. Similarly, 9°C was recorded at Mandla and Malajhkhand.
Besides, the state capital remained comparatively warmer as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 11.9 °C while Indore and Gwalior each recorded the minimum temperature of 12.4°C. Jabalpur recorded a minimum temperature of 11.4°C.
All these areas are receiving cold northeasterly winds for last many days, that is why the temperatures has fallen significantly. The winds blowing from northwest directions from Arabian Sea are warm. And when the wind directions changes to north-northeasterly, the temperature falls.
As per the weatherman, it is not cold wave but the season’s lowest temperature of nine degree Celsius has been recorded at many places. A cold wave is a rapid fall in temperature within a 24-hour period. The precise criterion for a cold wave is determined by the rate at which the temperature falls, and the minimum to which it falls.
