Bhopal: A medical college was to be developed in the vicinity of JP Hospital, Bhopal, in 2015. Therefore, immediate surprise visit of new Health minister Tulsi Silawat to JP Hospital has generated hope that old plan to open medical college with JP Hospital may see the light of day.
The then PS Health Pravir Khrishna, MD TRIFED, said, “It is true that we had plan to open medical college by upgrading JP Hospital when I was principal secretary health. I wanted to open medical college in the vicinity of JP Hospital. My plan was that if any medical college is opened by upgrading hospital with increase of beds, it will prove to be a good initiative for quality medical services.”
The then civil surgeon of JP Hospital Dr Vina Sinha said, “There was a plan to increase the beds in JP Hospital to 1250 beds. Besides, other facilities and services were to be upgraded. Currently, there are 300 plus beds.” The plan to open medical college by upgrading JP Hospital, Bhopal, which was pushed under carpet, is likely to get boost with change of government in MP.
