Bhopal: The results of the examinations conducted by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication in the month December-2018 surprised dozens of students who were outstanding in semester exam. They claimed that the answer-sheet evaluation procedure was not fair and even the class toppers have failed in the results declared on February 9.

The angry students staged a protest in the university campus under the banner of NSUI on Monday noon and raised slogans like ‘Hum apna adhikaar maangte, nahin kisi se bheekh maangte’ and ‘Shiksha ke dalalon ko jootey maaro saalon ko’. The students went directly to university registrar’s office. Registrar incharge, Deependra Baghel refused to talk to the students following which the students barged into his office. In the chaos, somebody broke the window glass of his office.

The students told Baghel their problem to which he replied, “This might be a technical error and we’ll look into it.” Left unsatisfied with the reply of registrar, students demanded to meet the Vice Chancellor of the University and gathered in front of the university gate and locked the gate.

The varsity administration called police to control the situation. Police tried to pacify the angry students but they asked the police to stay away saying, “The matter is between the university management and students and we don’t want interfere of anybody else.”

Meanwhile many administrative members of the university tried to talk to the agitating students but they remained firm on their demand of meeting the VC. The protest was called off at around 4 pm after Vice Chancellor P Narhari assured them in a statement saying, “In coming two days, answer-sheets of students who have failed will be re-evaluated for free and the matter will be looked upon by the university management.” Besides, the Vice Chancellor also assured to resolve any ‘error’ even after re-evaluation.
