The most controversial Vice Chancellor and centre of all controversies of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Mass Communication (MCU), BK Kuthiala has written a letter to CM Kamal Nath offering his consultancy services for the university.
Kuthiala, now posted as chairman of State Higher Education Council of Haryana, has enumerated achievements of his tenure. He has also written that as chairman of MCU general council CM Nath should restrain notorious elements within and outside university from damaging this highly reputed university.
Referring to various reports published in media, Kuthiala has written that MCU has risen to new heights with respect to academics, research and publications. He writes that during his eight year tenure as VC number of students had multiplied ten times, number of courses increased to four times and corpus fund enhanced six times.
He also cited in the letter that it was during his tenure that MCU was made eligible for getting funds from various educational institutions. MCU got recognized with UGC under section 12 A and got a grant of Rs 6 crore by NITI Ayog. He has also mentioned about university’s tie up with educational institution from China and a makeover of image at international level.
Former VC Kuthiala mentioned in his letter more than once that there were some notorious elements inside and outside the university that are responsible for tempering of MCU’s image. Nath had ordered an inquiry into Kuthiala’s tenure as MCU VC. He has been accused of appointments made throwing all rules to winds and obliging people. There are several other charges, some very serious against Kuthiala. The inquiry report has been filed and has reached CM’s office and action including filing of FIR is expected after Lok Sabha elections.
