Bhopal: Crime branch of Bhopal police arrested a 25-year-old man accused of making hoax calls on Dial 100 emergency service and giving false information about bombs in railway stations and district and sessions court on Saturday at Shahpura here. The accused made the calls to trap one of his fellow villagers from whom he had borrowed money and didn’t want to return it.

The arrested accused on May 29 had called Dial 100 and said there were bombs at Bhopal railway station and District and Sessions Court (DSC) citing an input from an unknown person who he claimed to have called him from two different numbers.

According to the police, accused Dharam Yadav of Bawaria Kalan in Shahpura locality was arrested from his house on Saturday late evening. Before arresting him the police tracked down the mobile number from which the call was made and found out that the number was registered in the name of Suresh Raidas. Suresh was rounded up by the police on which he said he had not made the call and rather lost the SIM card of the number a few months back.

The investigators then traced down the location of the lost SIM card from which the accused made the hoax calls and finally nabbed Yadav.

“He initially gave misleading information to the police but when interrogated intensely he broke down and confessed that he only made the calls from the SIM card which he had found in Kolar locality. He told the police that he had borrowed Rs 15,000 from the subscriber of the two SIM cards, Rakesh Kumar who too used to live in the same village. Yadav was unable to return the money but Kumar repeatedly asked him to return the amount after which he decided to trap him in false case by calling the Dial 100 and giving his numbers as the source of information,” said ASP (crime), Rashmi Mishra adding Yadav had a criminal background and had been booked for rape earlier in Kolar police station.
