Bhopal: Man killed in mishap involving sanitation vehicle

Bhopal: A 50-year-old man was killed by a sanitation vehicle on Saturday morning. The incident comes only a day after the death of 35-year-old woman in Misrod by another sanitation vehicle. After the BRTS, now its sanitation vehicles of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) that is becoming a threat to people’s lives.

Expert say given the reckless manner in which BMC’s sanitation vehicles ply on the roads, a speed limit has to be fixed by the authorities. The deceased has been identified as Jagannath Singh Silanki resident fo Narsinghgarh and was living here in a farm house in Gandhi Nagar and worked there as a security guard.

ASI Ramashray Yadav says that the deceased was walking near Ganesh temple when the sanitaiton vehicles arrived and hit him at around 10:30 pm. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died at around 2 pm. A case has been registered and the accused Rafique Ali has been arrested. These two deaths are alarming as these vehicles run at a very high speed in the city and several hits have also been reported in the past but the way two lives were taken in twenty four hours should prompt the authorities for action, added an expert.
