BHOPAL: A 38-year-old man was duped by a medical department staff of Rs 6 lakh on the promise of a job with the Indian Railways.
The woman, Shobha Khare, is posted in the panchayat department in Chhindwara district and she was earlier booked by the local police for similar frauds. She is on the run and the MP special task force (STF) is looking for her, the police said.
SHO, Chunabhatti, Nitin Sharma said the woman had come into contact with the complainant, Kamlesh Raikwar, in 2019 when she came to Bhopal for some official training. She offered Raikwar a job and took Rs 6 lakh from him. She also took him to West Bengal, where they met Deepak Chaure and they handed him a job letter.
When he did not get the job with the Railways, he asked for his money back and Khare gave him a cheque that bounced. He lodged a complaint with the Chunabhatti police as he came to know about other fraudulent activities committed by her recently. The police lodged an FIR on Friday.
The woman has been booked under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC. Sharma said the woman is on the run.
In another incident, a man took Rs 14 lakh form a woman whom he used to treat as his ësisterí. He would take money from the victim on one pretext or the other, promising to return the amount. The accused, Sheelkant Gaud, lived in the same neighbourhood as the complainant, Vineeta Aud. He also took money from her for a credit card and for a government job.
The accused promised to return the amount once he got a job. He said he would be in a government job soon and, for that, he required some money. The complainant gave him the amount in 2019 but the accused staretd avoiding her after taking the money. When the woman failed to get the amount back, she lodged a police complaint a month ago. An FIR was registered with the police on Friday.
ASI SD Vaishya of the Ayodhya Nagar police station said the accused had been booked under sections 420 and 406 of the IPC.
