Bhopal: Star Malkhamb player from Ujjain, Pooja Malviya met with the Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Jitu Patwari on Thursday. Pooja was also the captain of the Indian team who won the Mallakhamba World Cup held at Mumbai. Pooja told Patwari about her achievements at Malkhamb World Cup.
Secretary, District Mallakhamba Association, Leeladhar Kahar; Treasurer, Vijay Vali, Manu Gadiya; Coach, Indian Mallakhamba Team, Yogesh Malviya and player Rajveer Singh were also present. Jitu Patwari appreciated the performance of Pooja in the Malkhamb World Cup and also congratulated her for her achievement.
Patwari also said that Pooja has brought laurels to the nation as well as the state by winning the gold medal. Traditional sport, Malkhamb has been recognized as state sport and all necessary steps will be taken in the directions of the development of this sport. Pooja Malviya represented Indian team in the Malkhamb World Cup and has won gold medal in the team event of pole and rope Mallakhamba. Singapore team stood second and Malaysia team had to satisfy with the third position.
