Bhopal: Bhopal-Khajuraho Mahamana Express was flagged off from Bhopal Railway Station by railway minister Suresh Prabhu through video-conferencing from New Delhi on Thursday. On this occasion, minister Vishwas Sarang and MP Alok Sanjar were also present. The newly-installed lifts on platforms 4 and 5 were also inaugurated.
Sanjar thanked the minister for launching the train and demanded that Bairagarh should be included in Bhopal Division of Indian Railways. He said though Bhopal did not get as many trains as it needed, after the third Bina-Itarsi line was constructed, the city would get more trains. Sarang said the train would connect two tourist spots – Bhopal and Khajuraho. Till now, people had to reach Khajuraho by train. He appealed to passengers to keep the train neat and clean.
In his welcome speech, additional GM, WCR said the train would reach Khajuraho from Bhopal in only six hours.
LED lights in coaches, odour control in toilets
The train is fitted with many modern amenities including bucket-type seats. The toilets have big mirros, platform washbasin, discharge watertap, odour control system, dusbin and exhaust fans. LED lights have been installed inside the coaches and charging points for laptops and mobile phones have been provided in all coaches. All coaches have passenger address system and passenger information system so that passengers know the exact location of the train. The train has screwless panels and all coaches have fire extinguishers. Each AC coach has cost Rs 42 lakh while the non-AC coaches have cost Rs 27 lakh.
