Bhopal: ‘MP Kadaknath’ mobile app has evoked tremendous response, but due to the logistical problems and technical snags, poultry firm owners have failed to honour the pouring orders. The MP government launched the mobile app on March 28 to market rare chicken breed – the “Kadaknath”- whose black meat is in high demand for its nutritious content and purported medicinal properties.

Also, it aims to connect poultries that sale the breed with people from other parts of the country. Till now, around 20,000 orders has been placed across the country including Assam, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Hyderabad, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh etc, through call not by app due to some technical glitches.

Vinod Meda owner of Ashish Kadaknath Murgi Palan Sahkari Sanstha, Thandla Tehsil, Jhabua told Free Press, “We are getting huge demand around 20,000 for the chicken breed across the country mostly from Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Delhi. 75 % demand has increased than earlier. We have adequate production but we are unable to fulfill the demand of those customers who are not from MP due to transportation problem. Till now, we have supplied around 200 to 400 chickens to the customers in Bhopal, Indore and Baroda.”

He said that customers are placing the demand by the phone calls not by app due to technical snags. Meda further said, “Customers said that they have filled all the information in app but we are not receiving it. That’s why they are giving order through phone. We are getting 30 orders per day across country. We have five staff. Due to lack of proper transportation facilities, we have to supply the chickens through train and bus which is illegal. And for this, we have to give extra money to TT.” He said “We will not have to face such problems if the government provides pass for this in train.”

Similarly, Veer Singh, owner of Kadaknath Murgi Palan Sanstha, Maryadit, Megh Nagar, Jhabua, said, “ We are getting orders from customers across country mainly Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Bhopal through phone calls, but are unable take the orders from outside MP due to lack of transportation facility. Today, we got an order of 200 small chickens from Jamnagar but we could take it. Who will take the responsibility if these chickens die during long journey?”

“We have also taken up the matter to corporation department, Bhopal. They assured us to solve the issue soon. The problem can be solved if the government makes a depot in Indore and supply the chickens outside the MP through airplanes. It will also generate employment to many people,” said Singh. “We have uploaded the app many times in our android phones but are unable to place orders,” said Jaishree who works in private firm in Bhopal.

Prem Dwivedi, Deputy commissioner, Cooperatives Department, Madhya Pradesh

We are getting good response from across the country, but it is not possible to take the orders from other states now. Our primary responsibility is MP. So, we are trying to fulfill the demand of the customers of the home state first. It is not artificial production, so it takes around four months. Also, we cannot hand over the work to private companies because there is a possibility of misuse. We are now focusing on its production first, after that we will focus on its supply and marketing.
