Bhopal: Loan of 25 lakh farmers will be waived in next 16 days, says CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Kamal Nath while debating on the public interest issue under Rule 139, in the Vidhan Sabha talked about the farm loan waiver scheme of MP, on Wednesday. He said, “On March 5, I will share the secret how I had waived off the farmers loan.” Ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan raised allegations on the government and also demanded various reliefs for the farmers. CM Nath in his response assured this is the government which focuses on farmers’ welfare.

The CM Nath informed that in coming 16 days the loan of 25 lakh farmers will be waived off, “The loan is not taken by the farmers it is taken by the banks and the banks will distribute the no-dues-certificates.” After getting the certificate, the farmer’s will realise that their loan has been waived of, he added. He claimed that “The loan waiver scheme is not a political announcement done by the AICC national president, I had worked for six months to make it a reality. I was aware of the condition in which the BJP government were to handover the state coffer to us.”

He added that “In getting ones farm, taking photographs and coming on TV, will not solve the problems of the farmers who are affected with hailstorm and frost. I was in the office and taking information from the ministers, MLAs of both the parties and also from the administration.”

He added that “The problem of the farmers will be solved through the guidelines of the RBC book and the government will also going to provide more assistance to them.”

Chouhan corners govt on farmers’ issue

Ex-CM Chouhan lashed the government for the ignorance on the paddy procurement and non payment of the bonus to the farmers. He alleged that the ministers and the CM did not reach the farm fields to console the farmers. “During my tenure as a CM, if I got information of hailstorm in night- the next morning I used to be on their fields to console them and to provide them the relief amount”, he added. He demanded that the government should procure paddy on Rs 2,500 per quintals, bonus of Rs 500 on the maze and soy bean should be distributed. He asked that the procurement centres should not be decreased and to solve the problems of the farmers.

The food and civil supplies minister Pradumn Singh Tomar interrupted the Chouhan’s speech for several times. The minister was having objection that the ex-CM is making false statement in the assembly. The speaker NP Prajapati asked the minister to let the Chouhan to finish the statement, but he continued interrupting.
