Bhopal: Light to moderate rain expected in east MP between Jan 25 & 27

Bhopal: Cloudy weather coupled with chill wind prevailed in the state capital on Tuesday plummeting mercury by four to five degree Celsius during the day. Many places experienced light rain in Gwalior and Chambal divisions in last 24 hours. Amba recorded 2cm rainfall and Morena recorded 1cm rainfall.

The night temperatures of northern parts of the state are significantly above normal on Tuesday. Day temperatures were down in many parts of state. However, they were still above the normal mark. Night temperatures or minimums are 3-5 degree Celsius above normal. The increase in temperatures can be attributed to change in wind direction from northerly to south westerly.

As minimum were on rise in various parts, Jabalpur recorded minimum temperature of 15.4 degree Celsius while Sagar recorded 15.6 degree Celsius. Similarly, Seoni recorded 16 degree Celsius as minimum temperature. Most of the places recorded over 14 degree Celsius.

There were sharp drop in day temperature. Guna recorded drop of 5.8 degree Celsius, Gwalior recorded drop of 5.4 degree Celsius, Ujjain recorded fall of 4.5 degree Celsius. Rajgarh recorded drop of 4.4 degree Celsius. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 27.3 degree Celsius while it recorded a minimum temperature of 13.8 degree Celsius which was 3.1 degree Celsius. Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 24.9 degree Celsius while it recorded a minimum temperature of 12.6 degree Celsius which was 2.4 degree Celsius above normal. Day temperature down by 3.2 degree Celsius in Bhopal and Indore recorded 4.3 degree Celsius fall.

However, sharp drop in day temperatures is expected by four to six degree Celsius during January 25 to January 27. Also, there are chances of hailstorm activities at a few places. Rains are expected over places like Satna, Pana, Umaria, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni and Chhindwara.

According to meteorological department, presently, an active Western Disturbance is seen over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced Cyclonic Circulation is over Punjab and adjoining West Haryana and North Rajasthan. These weather systems will move eastwards. Due to this, light rains are expected at one or two places in North and Northeast parts of the state.

The confluence zone for the merging of winds from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal is expected to form over Eastern parts of state on January 24. So, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities are expected on Eastern parts of state between January 25 and January 27. During this period day temperatures will drop by four to six degree Celsius all over the state.
